  • Customer Service Specialist — Multiple Locations, (Part Time)
    $15.22/hourly - $22.83/hourly (Open till May 7, 2024)
    Provides public service at the Circulation Desk in person and on the phone. Collects payments for fines, fees, book sale items and supplies. Resolves customer account problems. Waives or negotiates payment of charges, as appropriate. Checks library materials in/out, places holds, renews items, searches for and retrieves materials. Assists and trains customers to operate library equipment; troubleshoots basic equipment malfunctions. Reviews library card applications, verifies eligibility and identification, issues and/or updates library cards. Provides information about borrowing policies, library services and programs, etc. Fills and processes hold requests. Uses PC and specialized software, payment transaction system, and other library equipment (self-check machines, laser, printer, copier, etc.) Assists with technology troubleshooting, both for patrons and with in-house computers and machines as needed. Performs assigned support tasks, sorting, shelving and other clerical duties.

  • Construction & Maintenance Specialist I — West Jordan, (Full Time)
    $37,772/year - $56,657/year (Open till May 12, 2024)
    Transports and operates light, medium, and heavy duty equipment. Operates and performs general maintenance on facility service vehicles and custodial and grounds equipment. Maintains facility grounds which may include: cutting grass, weeding, watering, aerating, fertilizing, seeding turf, installing and maintaining sprinkler systems, trimming shrubbery, and snow removal. Maintains and operates assigned hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Prepares a variety of routine records and reports, maintains records of work requests and routine equipment maintenance and safety records. Assists with loading and unloading dock deliveries and shipments. Assists trade personnel in performing diverse construction and maintenance tasks. Keeps alert for facility problems that could be safety or security issues. Picks up and distributes cleaning supplies within facilities. Assembles/disassembles, designs, relocates, and repairs Steelcase partitions, work stations, shelving, and other office furniture. Changes exterior lights and parking lot lights, and performs parking lot striping, roof maintenance, and window cleaning.

Library employees work in a variety of positions across our 18 libraries, two reading rooms, the satellite jail location, administration, support services and our facilities team. The County Library is a division of Salt Lake County Department of Community Services.

Work Hours/Benefits

The Library offers a variety of positions both full and part-time. The majority of our positions, both full and part-time, are eligible for benefits. To support branch staffing needs, the Library employs for non-benefited, substitute positions as well.
